Not that long ago a blue collar guy could save his money and work his way up the racing ladder. Danny Sullivan who worked as a taxi cab driver worked his way up from racing school cars to Formula Ford all the way up to Formula One. On his way he became an Indy 500 winner, and Indy Car Series Champion.

In today’s open wheel racing environment you can race in some of the racing school series for less than $40k per year, and these series are a great bargain. Unfortunately your next step up into national competition can cost nearly 10 times that amount. When budgets get this high it is difficult for racers to continue competing year after year.

Practical Maintenance:
The FormulaSPEED2.0 comes with all the documentation you need to properly care for your racecar. There are recommendations for when to inspect or change parts to keep your racecar in top level condition. The car was overbuilt in the design process with a transaxle that can handle considerably more power than will be generated by the 2 liter engine. All of the wiring is top level military spec, and hardware is also top flight equipment. This will keep costs down for arrive and drive racers who pay to have the cars prepared and will also save independent racers time.

Learning:
Some racers love the aspect of working on their cars, preparing them for a race weekend, and setting them up for specific tracks and conditions. Karters looking to move into cars could get some first class lessons on how to prepare and set up a formula car as they move up through the ranks. The car is delivered with information that would take many years of work in the industry to acquire.

 

Reasonable Budgets:
The FormulaSPEED2.0 car and series is designed to offer a place in this large gap in budgets. The cost of the car itself is entry level, and the running costs are as well. Some racecars have an attainable buy in, but the costs to run them can be out of control. For instance you can buy a decent Swift 08 Formula Atlantic car for $30k, but a new competitive engine that can win the SCCA Runoffs can cost up to $55k and is good for 700 miles! The 2 Liter High Output Mazda MZR is expected to last approximately 6000 to 8000 miles, and will be easily replaced for approximately $6000.

Local Racing:
Multiple regional series keep travel costs to a minimum, and also keep drivers who are working other jobs from taking off extra days to get to the race event. Only one race in the schedule would be a long haul and that would be the NASA National Championships weekend.
